Wednesday 26th NovAfter my last routine mammogram and ultrasound checkup this year {2025} I was informed that I had a mass & needed to have a guided biopsy and clip placement done. The results came back that I had an abnormal test result,
I was soon diagnosed with grade 2 (intermediate grade) Invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) breast cancer and started 6 rounds of Chemotherapy every 21 days.
I am so thankful for the technology out there and the suggestion from a doctor to always have both mammogram and ultrasound done.
Early detection is the key, especially in my case as physical examinations could not detect my breast cancer & I had no other warning signs.
During my time of having chemo and researching more about breast cancer I saw something pop up about Breast Cancer Trials {which I hadn’t heard of before} and the Pink Bloom Party fundraiser.
I love morning & afternoon tea parties so I decided then that I’d host a Pink Bloom party at my local QCWA hall & see if I could raise at least $200 {every dollar no matter how big or small helps} I had exactly one month from the day I registered to the day of my breast friends 🎀 Pink Bloom Party 🌸 to organise it all 🤪 My wonderful mum was quick to be my biggest helper in making it such a great success even though she also was still recovering from a battle of her own {lung cancer}
The generosity of people and businesses was just mind blowing. I never thought in my small community that my fundraiser would be such a big success. I was concerned that our little CWA Hall wouldn’t be able to fit everybody in when everyone was coming through the door I’m happy to say the CWA Hall was blooming with so many supporters & the donations of hampers were amazing. I am so proud to been able to give back to the Breast Cancer Trials as this is something that has helped to make my treatments a little more comfortable.
